Coachella 2011: Digging into the Line-Up

Goldenvoice has announced the line-up for 2011's 12th Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival set for Friday, April 15, Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA.  Most news just focuses on the headliners - Arcade Fire, Kanye West and Kings of Leon.  Plus some of the reunions and next tier performers, such as  Duran Duran, Big Audio Dynamite, The Black Keys, Interpol, The National, The Strokes, Cee Lo Green, Brandon Flowers of the Killers and so on.
But while the "big-name" headliners surely bring in thousands, many others come for performers lower on the bill, just as and in some cases even more vital.  And this year is fully loaded:  Music News That Matters picks would include the return of Bright Eyes, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, Delta Spirit, Flogging Molly, (always great live), Gogol Bordello (ever the whirlwind of gypsy punk on stage),  KlaxonsMumford & SonsThe New Pornographers, another reunion in The London Suede,
And let's not forget its not just a music, but an arts festival every year. In 2011, Coachella will partner with The Creators Project, which supports leading and emerging artists across the globe who use technology to turn their artistic visions into reality. By incorporating technology and visual art, the partnership adds another layer of creative expression to the festival.   Additional information is available at www.thecreatorsproject.com.
There's also the online and physical Coachella community from message boards to the friendships formed annually at the onsite campgrounds.  This year's onsite camping will include a Farmer’s Market, a 24-hour general store, a roller skating rink and free shuttle service to a local grocery store.
