UK-based reissues specialist Union Square Music is reissuing expanded digital versions of Procol Harum’s classic albums Grand Hotel, Exotic Birds and Fruit, Procol’s Ninth and Something Magic on November 1 with special bonus tracks
Grand Hotel
Headed up by Gary Brooker (music) and Keith Reid (words) Procol Harum falls un under art-rock, classical rock and progressive rock as well. Grand Hotel was released in 1973 (also the year of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, Paul McCartney’s  Band on the Run, and notable albums from Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and Roxy Music.) Grand Hotel reached No. 21 on the Billboard charts, was certified Gold and feaured the title track. The digital release includes  two previously unreleased bonus tracks selected by Gary Brooker from the session tapes – raw versions of "Grand HoteL" and "Bringing Home The Bacon" without  orchestra.
Exotic Birds & FruitExotic Birds And Fruits features "Nothing But The Truth," Beyond The Pale," and " "As Strong As Samson" among the original tracks, plus the bonus tracks "Drunk Again" and a different version of "As Strong As Samson."
Procol’s Ninth found the band working with legendary American producer/songwriter team, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who'd written/produced Elvis Presley, Ben E. King and The Coasters and many others.  They were in Britain producing the debut album for Stealer’s Wheel and agreed to work with Brooker and Reid.
Procol's Ninth“The album was named after Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, which was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but it was in fact our ninth album.” Brooker said. The tracks include "I Keep Forgetting," which Leiber and Stoller had written for Peggy Lee and the Latin-flavored "Pandora’s Box" a UK hit.  the somewhat mysterious, Latin-tinged opening cut, which took Procol back into The re-release includes raw versions of :The Unquiet Zone," "Taking The Time" and "Fool’s Gold."
Something Magic features the then one LP side encompassing "The Worm & the Tree" and the album was made in America working at Miami’s Criteria Studios for songs such as "Wizard Man."  There are three bonus tracks from the session tapes – "Backgammon," "You’d Better Wait" (live) and "This Old Dog: (live).
