Springsteen 'Darkness" Box Set, Documentary Confirmed

Darkness on the Edge of Town
Shore Fire Media has confirmed that Bruce Springsteen, Jon Landau Management, and Columbia Records are working on completing a new package related to the 1978 album Darkness on the Edge of Town, which will likely be a box set of some kind.
The package will include the new film by Thom Zimny, The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge Of Town, set to premier September 14 at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Zimny created the "Wings For Wheels" documentary that was part of the Born to Run 30th Anniversary box.

Backstreets reports that TIFF representative Thom Powers told IndieWIRE he film includes "a treasure trove of footage from the 1970s. You see all the twists and turns of the making of this album. And we're the first people to announce that this film even existed."
TIFF.net says of the film: "The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town takes us into the studio with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for the recording of their fourth album. Grammy and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Thom Zimny has collaborated with Springsteen on this documentary, gaining access to never before seen footage shot between 1976-1978, capturing home rehearsals and recording sessions that allow us to see Springsteen's creative process at work."
Little Steven Van Zandt has said that the archives were being sifted through for many rarities to be placed on the Darkness set. While no official track list has been issued, fans expect to find many cleaned-up tracks that have long circulated on numerous bootlegs in addition to songs from the Darkness sessions that appeared on Springsteen's Tracks collection in 1998.
